This amazing timeshare is from World International Vacation Club (WIVC), based in Palm Springs. The club owns properties in Acapulco, California, Colorado, Florida and Spain. This club also offers direct exchange to properties in Oahu, Arizona, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Los Cabos, Bahamas, Napa, and Kissimee, Florida.

Per the club, members should be aware of several distinctions that separate a WIVC membership from the more common "right-to-use" club memberships that are being sold today.

The following are features that contribute to the value of this timeshare club.

1.  OWNERSHIP NEVER ENDS.

WIVC memberships are owned "in perpetuity." Much like a deeded piece of real property, WIVC members own their memberships in perpetuity, meaning that there is no expiration date and the interest can be left to heirs, and to their heirs and so on...in perpetuity.

The club owns all of the properties free and clear and the members own the club. Most clubs today offer a 30 year right to use membership, which means that at the end of the term, the membership expires. Members then own nothing and the properties revert to the developer.

2. THE VALUE OF THE CLUB PROPERTIES.

All club properties are located in world-renown resort destinations. Though the club is not listing the properties for sale, the accounting department maintains an approximate value of the properties for tax purposes. For a one bedroom member in WIVC, just the property value of each week is $3500.  The value of a two-bedroom week, "property value only", is $4300.

3. GOODWILL OF THE MEMBERSHIP

When determining value of a membership, property value should be considered of course, but also the goodwill of a well-organized club administration. Many vacation clubs have come and gone, but WIVC continues to thrive as a non-profit club after 33 years.

The club estimates the value of memberships as follows and sells to new members at the following rates:

One - bedroom/one week /fixed week $5500

Two - bedroom/one week/fixed week  $6000

Some members have floating weeks, which means the timeshare can be used any week of the year. This means you do not have to vacation at the same week every year. There are no black-out dates. Whatever dates you can obtain and confirm can be your vacation dates. This feature creates much added value. I am told that the value of this membership, with the floating aspect is at least $6750.

Unused weeks on a membership also add value. If you can obtain a membership with unused weeks, the maintenance fees have been paid on those weeks already and are ready to go. 

The annual dues are currently $538. When I purchased this about 25 years ago, they were about $450 I believe, so they have not increased much. Currency fluctuations have been responsible for most of the increases.  According to the Chairman's most recent report, "annual dues for this club are the absolute lowest ( his emphasis) for any comparable organization. As the dollar is strengthening, this is helping to keep costs down in maintaining the properties."

Additional nights or weeks can be purchsed subject to avaialabitly. For a 1 bedroom, $70 per night, for a 2 bedroom, $80 per night.

To exchange resorts within the club, there is no fee. Other exchange fees may apply with other organizations that accept weeks for deposit and exchange.

I bought this vacation timeshare so I could use Interval International to exchange to resorts all over the world. I have been to 5-star resorts domestically and internationally, without having to pay the high fees and costs of other hotel resort vacation programs, or deal with points. RCI is another timeshare exchange firm that accepts WIVC units for exchange throughout the world. There are several and you can use any and all of them will accept these club units for deposit. Through Interval International (I.I.), you can deposit unused weeks to keep them "alive" for additional periods of time  ( years ) if you cannot travel for some reason. I.I. also offers the opportunity to split a week into 2 smaller trips,  and to exchange for a cruise as well. Gold membership also provides discounts on hotels, car rentals and more. WHY I AM SELLING THIS TIMESHARE  We used this for many many years to trade thru Interval International to go all over the world. We had favorite places we would travel to often, and used it to try new locations in the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii and more. The club organization also has about 6-8 worldwide resorts you can visit with ease.  We used it for I.I. deposits mostly as the resorts they offer are so varied and among them are 5 star resorts, including Marriott and Westin properties, which are among the best. About  6 years ago we bought a second home in the location we traveled to the most and are not using this as much. So simply am selling so another family can enjoy this as we have. The costs to buy into a Marriott or Westin vacation club are considerably higher. For example, buying a week in Maui via Marriott runs from $10,950 to over $35,000. WHY WOULD YOU PAY THIS MUCH WHEN YOU CAN BUY A FOREVER VACATION AND SIMPLY EXCHANGE INTO THE LUXURY RESORTS? The club  is a non-profit corporation, floating time, multi-destination, membership time-share club owned and operated by its members through an elected board of directors.
